I'm sure it wont all be smooth sailing, but I've signed up to Nerd Fitness to try and change my lifestyle for the better.
Useful things to note - I didn't get unfit overnight, so I can't expect to get fit & healthy overnight neither. A lot of small changes eventually add up to something massive.

So, I used to play bass guitar with a few bands around Nottingham, back in the '90s. We mostly played our own stuff and I just made up basslines that fit (or followed suggestions from our guitarist).
I'd never had a lesson and could only read music / TAB very slowly. None of that mattered, though I knew my technique was poor (I never used my pinky, for instance).
I then developed a weird immune condition called pressure urticaria and gave up the bass for 10 years.
My condition seems to be stable so I'm picking my bass up again, but this time I'm taking some lessons (I may even do some exams!) and shall try to learn to play 'properly'.
whilst still having fun, of course :)
